Polish or Damage Your Stainless Steel Appliances?

refrigerator stainless steelThe obvious answer is that you want to polish and never damage your expensive refrigerator, stove or other expensive appliances.  Ammonia and other very common cleaners can corrode stainless steel making it look and feel ugly.  There is a natural product that polishes without damage.

First start by cleaning the surface of dirt and grime with dish soap, or Murphy Oil soap.  Apply a very small amount of olive oil using a soft cloth.  Apply with some elbow grease to get the olive oil deeply into the grooves of the metal.  It will have a nice burnished polish.  Just don’t use a lot or the appliance will have a slippery feel.

  1. I liked that you had mentioned that before polishing the surface it can be important to clean the surface first to make sure there isn’t anything on it. My wife and I have recently moved into an apartment that has all stainless steel appliances and while it looks great, we’ve noticed that they’ve been getting quite dirty. I’ll have to try cleaning them off and then looking around for some stainless steel polish to handle the rest of the work.
