Banish Pesky Fruit Flies We are coming up on the time where we will be loading up our farmers market basket with wonderful fruits and veggies. The only downside to this wonderful healthy bounty is those pesky fruit flies that seem to swarm in to share your goodies. Banish pesky fruit flies with this easy trap: I take a 4 oz jelly canning jar and punch a bunch of 3/16 to 1/4″ holes in the lid [reduces spilling, but you can use an open dish]. Fill jar 3/4 full of vinegar and put 3-4 drops of original blue Dawn dish washing liquid into it. Set it on the counter near your fruit bowl and the fruit flies will enter the jar and never leave alive. I have used cider vinegar as it is more “fruit-like” and appears to attract them quicker and banish pesky fruit flies much faster than white vinegar.
Household Tip: Freshen the air easily with a diffuser. Room freshener sprays contain many harsh chemicals that are harmful and many times are so strongly scented that they are more annoying than the odor they are trying to cover up. Diffusers for essential oil are easy to make – they don’t require electricity to work like the commercial “plug-ins” or filled with harsh chemicals. Freshen the air easily with a diffuser you make yourself.
